Getting Away With God

(John 10:40)

Getting away at least once a month for a half day is critical to your relationship with the Lord. So much of our time with God is
on a tight schedule, and we get into a rut of doing it the same way every day.
Once in a while we need to break the routine, get away for at least a half
day, and just spend time alone with God. Jesus, who was 100% God while
being 100% man, still, in His role as a human, needed the fellowship with God.
Many times in the Gospel accounts of His life, we see Him getting away alone
by himself. If Jesus needed this intimate contact with God once in a while,
how much more do we need it?

In any relationship, you must take some time to nurture that relationship.
I
have talked some this week about our daily relationship with Jesus, but once
in a while we need to take a half or full day just to be alone with Him.
Why? Because we get very clever in getting in "our time with God" each day
to the point it can get stale and very meaningless. It becomes an exercise
like going to the gym. That is fine, but we get so comfortable we sometimes
don't take the time to listen to God. This 1/2 day or full day become a time
to take inventory on your life. See where you are at, where you want to be.
More important is where God wants you to be. We can get so busy, we start
missing His voice.

I want to challenge each one of you today. In the next 45 days, find a half
day or full day, and just devote it to talking with God. Let Him minister
to you. He will talk to you. Most important, you will take time to make
sure you are on track. We all want to follow Him and serve Him. Sometimes
it takes some time alone with Him to really hear. I know we are all very
busy with our lives, but let me ask you this question...are you too busy for
God?
